DURHAM, JUNE 12, 2022  – UNC Basketball and Academic standout Armando Bacot has entered into a partnership with The Me Fine Foundation, a local nonprofit. Bacot will serve as a spokesperson for Me Fine to provide crucial support to families with children in medical crisis by raising awareness about the organization and who it serves.

Me Fine’s Program Director, Meghan Fox. Armando Bacot. Joey Powell, Me Fine’s Executive Director.

Me Fine is headquartered in Durham and serves families of children being treated by UNC Children’s, Duke Children’s, and WakeMed Children’s Hospitals. The 501(c)3 charity provides financial and emotional support to help families shoulder the burdens that come with a child’s diagnosis.

"Our Me Fine families face challenges that the general public just doesn’t understand unless they’ve experienced them firsthand," said Me Fine Executive Director Joey Powell. "One of our strategic priorities is to become a household name within the Triangle area of North Carolina. With someone well-known, humble, and successful like Armando on our team, we expect to bring more awareness to our cause so that we can continue to do more to support these families.”

Bacot added, “I am so excited to be partnering with Me Fine to use my platform to bring awareness to the amazing work they do supporting families with kids dealing with serious medical situations. Using my platform to give back has always been incredibly important to me and I can’t wait to meet these kids and help raise funds for Me Fine’s crucial work.”

One of College Basketball’s best and most recognizable players, Armando Bacot was team captain for the University of North Carolina Men’s Basketball team last season that played for the national championship. Bacot was named 1st team All-ACC, runner-up as conference Player of the Year, and was 1st team Academic All-ACC as a student at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He returns this year for his senior season and will be a leading candidate for many preseason awards.
